NEWS TODAY, Piece by Piece: Pratt Photography Recent Alumni Exhibition

Piece by Piece
Pratt Photography Recent Alumni Exhibition

Gallery Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–4:30 PM

Piece by Piece features work by nine Pratt Institute alumni who have graduated from the Photography BFA program during the last five years. The title of the exhibition suggests the artists' varied and diverse artistic methods and points of view. The artists consider the aesthetics of urban space and the suburban landscape, poetics of the every day, the documentary tradition, witty conceptualism, meditations on identity, the objecthood of the photograph, and the playfulness of perception to be the essential elements of contemporary photographic practice. Piece by Piece, the exhibition constructs a larger assembly of contemporary meaning and the artist's collective acuity concerning the world in which we live.

A panel discussion with the artists moderated by author and alumnus Philip Gefter (B.F.A. Photography and Painting 1973) will take place in the Lower ARC Lecture Hall on Thursday, September 29, from 6-7 PM. A reception in the President's Gallery from 7-8 PM will immediately follow the discussion.
